Verification

The VettedBuild Verification Standard

Verified is a checklist, checked the same way for every member, before the badge is issued and again at every renewal. This page summarizes the standard and the badge terms. The signed PDFs are the official documents.

For builders

What gets checked on a builder

  • Business entity active and in good standing with the state, with the entity name matching the license
  • State contractor license, where required, verified current directly with the licensing board, with no open disciplinary actions
  • Certificate of insurance for general liability collected at onboarding and at every renewal, plus workers compensation coverage where the builder has employees or crews
  • VA one-time-close capability: prior lender approval for VA OTC, completed VA OTC builds on record, or a signed commitment to complete a lender approval process, with the completed build count recorded
  • Builder warranty of at least one year, or a 10-year insured protection plan, as VA requires for new construction
  • Track record reviewed: years in business, homes completed, references checked, and complaint and BBB history reviewed for patterns of unfinished work
For agents

What gets checked on an agent

  • Real estate license verified active with the state commission, with brokerage affiliation in good standing
  • Passes the VettedBuild VA OTC knowledge test, built from the network OTC study guide (38 questions, 80 percent to pass, one retake after 14 days)
  • VA one-time-close transaction experience recorded on the profile
Keeping the badge

The badge has to be re-earned

  • The badge is dated by year and renewed annually: license re-check, fresh certificate of insurance, and updated experience record
  • The badge is revocable immediately if documents lapse, a license is disciplined, or a substantiated complaint is upheld
  • Members must report license or insurance changes to the network when they happen

What verified means: the items above were checked by VettedBuild Network. Verification is not a guarantee of any member work, and the lender on each loan still completes its own builder approval for that loan.

Badge terms, in brief

Verified Member Badge Terms

A plain-language summary of the nine badge terms. The PDF above is the official version every member accepts.

1The Badge

The Verified Member badge is a certification mark of VettedBuild Network. It shows that the member passed the network Verification Standard for the calendar year printed on the badge. The badge remains the property of VettedBuild Network. Members receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to display it, and that license gives the member no ownership rights in the badge.

2Who May Display It

Only a member in good standing whose verification is current for the year shown on the badge may display it. The badge is issued to one specific business. It may not be shared, transferred, sublicensed, or displayed by any other business, location, or individual.

3How It Must Be Displayed

Display the badge exactly as issued. Do not alter its colors, shape, wording, or year, and do not crop out the year. Where the badge is displayed digitally, including on a website, profile page, or email signature, link it to the member VettedBuild Network profile where practical.

4What the Badge Does Not Mean

The badge is not a guarantee of work quality, pricing, timelines, or outcomes. Verification covers only the items listed in the Verification Standard. The badge is not issued, approved, or endorsed by the US Department of Veterans Affairs, and members may not state or imply any affiliation with or endorsement by the US Department of Veterans Affairs. The lender on any loan still performs its own builder approval for that loan.

5Member Obligations

While displaying the badge, a member must keep its license and insurance current at all times, notify VettedBuild Network immediately of any license discipline, insurance lapse or change, or material change to the business, and keep its VettedBuild Network profile information accurate.

6Term and Renewal

The badge is valid only for the calendar year printed on it. Renewal requires re-verification under the Verification Standard then in effect, including a license re-check, a current certificate of insurance, and an updated experience record. An expired badge may not be displayed.

7Revocation

VettedBuild Network may revoke the badge at any time if a member's documents lapse, a license is disciplined, the badge is misused or altered, the application contained false information, or a complaint against the member is investigated and upheld. On revocation, expiration, or withdrawal, the member must remove the badge from all websites, profiles, signatures, and materials within 10 days. Any use after that date is unauthorized.

8Complaints

Veterans and clients may report a member to VettedBuild Network. Each complaint is reviewed, the member is given a chance to respond, and an upheld complaint can result in revocation of the badge.

9Changes to These Terms

VettedBuild Network may update these terms and the Verification Standard. Members will be notified of updates. Continued display of the badge after an update means acceptance of the current terms.
